The reading journal is private; only I can see it. The goal of the reading journal is for you to think critically and analytically about a particular passage that was meaningful or stood out to you. At the top of each journal entry, you must reproduce a very short excerpt from a text of your choosing from that module. This quote should be no more than 2-3 sentences, but may be longer if necessary. Dont forget to include the page number. The focus of the reading journal should be this quote. Explain as explicitly as possible what issues or concerns this quote raises for you. Why do you find it significant? What is striking about it, or what made it memorable? Focus on specific words, concepts, and phrases, and quote these again in the text of the journal itself. What might your analysis of this passage contribute to other discussions ongoing in the class, either from previous modules or the current one? How does it dialogue with material covered in the slideshow? Again, your posts may draw on personal experience in order to help demonstrate a point or raise a particular issue, but this is by no means required. Please consult the grading rubric for more specific information.
