There was an earthquake that led to massive destruction of property and manufacturing and assembly plants of major car makers in Japan. Global companies that source parts from Japan were also affected by the destruction (Cunningham & Harney, 2012, p. 366). Electricity supply was cut short after the earthquake. Japan shut down most of its nuclear reactors that were the main energy generators. The power reaching the companies was not sufficient to normalize production
